About Us | Monsoon Gym Team
Koh Tao, Thailand
Monsoon Gym & Fight Club first opened its doors in August 2001. The founder, Darius, was hoping that the equipment would arrive before the yearly northwest monsoon, which it did, thus the name Monsoon Gym! In those days, there was little to do on the island outside of scuba diving, snorkeling, laying on the beach and having some cool beers in the evening.
Initially, the gym just had a few exercise bikes, some freeweights, a few benches and a single boxing bag hanging in the corner. A few of the islanders began coming regularly and eventually a former Souther Thailand Muay Thai Champion found the place and asked if he could start running classes.
From humble beginnings, we have now grown into one of the best equipped fight camps in the Gulf of Thailand, running classes in Muay Thai, Boxing , HIIT and we are Southeast Asia’s first and only 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu affiliate.
Currently, we are in the 3rd building and have finally found a place that affords us the room to grow and adapt in the future. The team continues to evolve, but some of the key players have been here for many years.

Yes – to take paid employment in Thailand you’ll need to obtain a non-imm B visa and work permit, which are tied to your employer.
